I think the bucks need to get rid of Michael Redd as soon as possible. He had proved to everyone in milwaukee that he is always going to be injury prone. Why are we paying somebody that never plays? We should trade him asap anybody is better than Redd because theyll actually contribute something to the team.

When was the last time the Bucks spend this kind of money in the off season?

The Bucks are said to be closing in on a five-year, $39 million deal for swing man John Salmons.

Salmons opted out and it looked like the Bucks were going to lose him, which is also one of the reasons they immediately went after Corey Maggette. Now it looks like Salmons is going to return to Milwaukee, which could create a fantasy buzzkill with the two potentially locked in a timeshare, although Salmons could play shooting guard and Maggette small forward. The Bucks have agreed to a five-year, $32 million deal with free agent power forward Drew Gooden.

He’ll join Andrew Bogut on the Bucks front line, where Corey Maggette could join them in the starting lineup. Gooden was solid for the Clippers last year and should be productive for the Bucks if he gets his 30 minutes per game. And we see no reason why he won’t.

If the Bucks resign Luke Ridnour, backup PG problem solved.

I don’t see how they can afford to bring both Salmons and Ridnour back after signing Drew Gooden. I’d honestly rather have Ridnour than Salmons at this point now. Salmons doesn’t seem to turn it on until after switching teams, and I think the team that overpays him will soon regret it.

Also, anyone who has lived in Milwaukee or been a Bucks fan long enough (I’ve never been to Wisconsin, but I’ve been a die-hard fan for years) has long since accepted that this team improves only through the draft, trades and free agents that other teams aren’t exactly lusting for. The biggest FA signing of the past 10 years? Bobby Simmons…

My mistake my man, I meant that as in, the other team that traded anything of value would appear to be giving up on the season. For example, if the Sixers traded Iggy and something else of value for a decrepit Michael Redd, it certainly wouldn’t look like anything more than a salary dump and that’s rarely received well by the general population. Bucks definitely need a backup point guard though.

I don’t think there is a Bucks fan out there that would think the Bucks are
giving up on the season if they traded Redd this off season.

I also think backup PG is a vital position we need to address, perhaps moreso
than SG now with CDR in the fold. I am not saying we shouldn’t look at adding
another SG, I’m saying at least we have a talented starting caliber SG in CDR,
but we have no one to back up Jennings. No one!
