Buck Hits: Bucks continue slide

John Hammond has some explaining to do. The Bucks have now lost 7 of their last 8 and team morale seems to be as low as the teams shooting percentage. Is there a backup plan? Should we shut down Bogut and focus on next season, and give our young players a chance to develop? One thing is clear, the Bucks as constructed aren’t working very well. What can we do about it? We’ll see if we do anything about it in the next 10 days.

Game Notes: Maggette hurt his back in this one, given the day-to-day tag. Bucks shot 8-26 in the fourth quarter, bad enough to earn them the L.

Power Rankings

In the midst of all this losing, the Bucks still stand at Hollinger’s power ranking system at 19th. Right in between the Hawks and the Jazz. Seriously, check for yourself.

The positivity train for Marc Stein at ESPN.com is finally derailing, as he drops the Bucks to 23rd best in the NBA.

The Bucks remain 24th in the league at NBA.com.

Charles Gardner isn’t sugar coating it, either, and has the Bucks at 24th.

The Rest

Rob Mahoney at the New York Times took a look at the Bucks season thusfar. Mahoney said it well when he noted that many were concerned about the length of the deals given out this past offseason, but were worried for following seasons, not this one.

  1. That’s a good article from the NY Times. I too was afraid of the length of contracts. I liked all the signings though except for Salmons. Maggette I wasn’t too sure of but it didn’t concern me much because of my faith in Hammonds. Now I don’t know what to think, I’m afraid of what might become of the team in the future. I hope some trades are in the mix. Don’t ask me what, just hoping for something.

  2. I’m with you there bizzucks. Good article. I too hope the Bucks can do something before the deadline. Clearly what we have isn’t work. I know there have been health issues, but that’s not the reason. I’d like to see us move somewhere (cap space, trade depth for talent, draft picks, etc). Something to give us some hope. Pretty big crash from the start of the season…
