Buck Hits: Yesterday’s Win, More Injuries

The Bucks got a victory at home last night against the Pistons, a move that’ll surely dash lottery hopes for the pro-tankers and keep the faith alive for the pro-first round exiters.

Game Notes: The Bucks were without Bogut, Moute, and Ilyasova, and managed to come away with the win in Earl Barron’s debut with the Bucks.

Speaking of Earl Barron, Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside ponders the effectiveness of the NBDL when players like Barron get signed while sitting at home. This isn’t to say Barron came to the Bucks out of shape, rather asking what the D-League is for when players that don’t utilize it still get picked up.

Your injury roundup:

Andrew Bogut: Strained Rib Muscle – Out at least a week
Ersan Ilyasova: Concussion – Return Unknown
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute: Flu Symptoms – Day to Day
Drew Gooden: Plantar Fasciitis. The Bucks announced Gooden would be out 4-6 weeks on January 26th, putting us in week 5 of his absence.

  1. Man, it’s a tough choice on what to root for, win or loss. I see both sides, but really, in this draft, is a #6-8 pick really that much better than a #10? I say go for it, at least that way a guy can try to enjoy a game once in a while. The Pistons game was pretty much that way. I say let em play, go have fun or something once…

  2. @Bizzucks

It’s a good point, and I’d say keep winning while you can and hope the Pacers fall off after they’ve come from nowhere under Frank Vogel. In this draft, set to be one of the worst in a while, it’s not like the Bucks are going to net any franchise-altering players from their position anyway.

  3. I can never encourage tanking in the NBA, where the draft system is setup to discourage such a thing. Not that this team will probably catch fire and somehow make the playoffs, but I like the idea of going down fighting and with some degree of pride. With that said, a few more losses and Bogut needs to be shut down.
