Miami Heat 114 Final
Recap | Box Score
96 Milwaukee Bucks
Carlos Delfino, SF 32 MIN | 8-12 FG | 3-3 FT | 1 REB | 4 AST | 24 PTS | -12

For the majority of his minutes he was tasked with stopping a man who was unstoppable on Monday night. For that, I’d give him a pass if he had a bad shooting night. But Delfino stayed hot from deep and played a big part in keeping the Bucks competitive. Miami has had a problem defending 3-point shooters this season and Delfino exploited that weakness.

Drew Gooden, PF 26 MIN | 2-14 FG | 8-8 FT | 7 REB | 2 AST | 12 PTS | -12

Rough night for Drew all around. He was constantly complaining to the refs, he was hit with the Qdoba dice rolled from section 200 and, worst of all, he mad two of 14 shots. As Milwaukee’s sudden number one option on offense, he’ll be hard pressed to find himself in the winning locker room after hitting just two shots all night.

Brandon Jennings, PG 28 MIN | 4-10 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 4 AST | 12 PTS | -14

A quick start provided hope that we’d get another big night from an apparently excited and motivated Jennings. He scored four points after the first quarter. Some credit can go to the Heat’s aggressive defense, but he doesn’t seem to be attacking what opportunities he is getting as often as he did. Maybe the opportunities to attack are fewer, but I’d say his percentage of opportunities to get into the paint exploited is considerably lower over his past seven or eight games. I was hoping this game, with a worthy opponent, would be the shot in the arm he needed. Guess not.

Stephen Jackson, SG 17 MIN | 3-9 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 7 PTS | -12

Aside from a couple plays, he didn’t do much. I’ve noticed he almost always assumes he’s the one coming out when he sees a sub entering the game. I’d imagine that’s a stressful existence when your a basketball player. Probably even more so when you’re as sure of yourself as Jackson is. All parties would probably benefit from it quite a bit if this whole thing was taken care of soon.

Beno Udrih, PG 20 MIN | 4-6 FG | 2-3 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 11 PTS | -4

I’m reaching for relevancy. Udrih made some shots again and it generally didn’t seem like he was doing a terrible job. So much doesn’t matter in a game like this, but it’s always cool to see a guy make a few shots. So thanks for that Beno.

Three Things We Saw

  1. It was what it was. The Heat flipped the switch and put it away. Lebron couldn’t miss his turnaround jumpers in the post and Wade slashed through the Bucks defense as he pleased. I’m sure on some level that’s a failure by the Bucks, but also it was two really good players being better than them. James and Wade combined for 57 and looked to do it without breaking much of a sweat.
  2. No one really thought the Bucks were better than the Heat. If the Bucks had beat the Heat 25 times in a row with these rosters as they are, I’d still be betting on the Heat every time these teams played. Two fluke wins don’t put the Bucks on the same level as the Heat talent wise. If the Bucks make the playoffs expect four games to play out the way this one did: Competitive for a while and ultimately a blowout win for the Heat.
  3. Don’t get too excited about that playoff spot though. The march towards mediocrity continues: The Bucks are now a full game behind the Knicks for the final playoff spot in the East. And while it’s too early to worry about seeds and all that, it isn’t too early to look at the composition of the Knicks and Bucks and think, “Damn, this is going to be difficult.”

Yea the Jack thing really is not helping at all, unfortunately his play isn't helping his trade stock. With the Knicks emerging as a legit playoff team the Bucks are starting to look like the odd man out. Bucks have several contracts with players that might ensure this mediocrity for several more years, I fret more and more everyday about relocation :/

Can someone please explain to me how Gooden can miss 12 of his first 13 shots before Leuer gets one minute of playing time.. I keep hearing about how the Bucks are a team that doesn't have the luxury of wasting possessions, yet we seem to have an unlimited leash for mediocrity.. I am not blaming this loss on Gooden or anyone.. just don't understand

Also why is Jackson still on the team?

JustinNixon What I don't understand is how Brockman sees the floor before Leuer. I'm not really trying to diss Brockman, but Leuer can contribute offensively and protect the ball from turnovers.

As far as Jackson goes, I hope Senator Kohl would consider a buyout.
