Cougars, Bobcats, whatever, still not good: Bucks 112 – Bobcats 92

Milwaukee Bucks 112 Final

Recap | Box Score

92 Charlotte Bobcats
Ersan Ilyasova, PF 22 MIN | 6-8 FG | 2-2 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 15 PTS | +4

Pretty awesome game from Ilyasova. While his fellow starters matched points and shot attempts, Milwaukee’s suddenly powerful forward once again piled up the points on limited shots. A nice night and plenty of rest was perfect for Ers with the Bucks playing their third straight game tomorrow.

Drew Gooden, PF 25 MIN | 7-14 FG | 0-0 FT | 12 REB | 4 AST | 14 PTS | +7

He had more shots falling against the Bobcats than he did against the Celtics. I bet he would have sacrificed a few tonight to have a few more yesterday though. Charlotte’s lack of a big man that doubles as a competent basketball player must have been quite a relief for Gooden.

Mike Dunleavy, SF 22 MIN | 6-7 FG | 1-1 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 15 PTS | +16

Still hitting shots. Also a nice no-look dish to Mbah a Moute on a drive to the rim.

Beno Udrih, PG 22 MIN | 4-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 8 AST | 9 PTS | +15

It’s amazing how easily Udrih seems to pile up the assists. Many of them are coming thanks to Mike Dunleavy’s incredible scoring prowess of late, but it seems no matter how few minutes he plays he finds a way to almost lead the team in dimes.

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, SF 25 MIN | 8-12 FG | 4-8 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 20 PTS | +21

Played a lot of small forward but still found a way to be effective. He found his seams and worked in close to the hoop as the high shooting percentage and eight free throw attempts would indicate. This game was similar to the Warriors game for him in that sense.

Ekpe Udoh, PF 19 MIN | 3-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 6 PTS | +16

It was interesting to see him and Udoh on the court at the same time. It gave me some good perspective on how raw an NBA player can be. Udoh isn’t raw. Not when compared to Biyombo. Or Sanders for that matter. He’s better than Larry Sanders, let’s squash any statements made otherwise right now. Watch him move, watch how he reads plays and how he makes an impact often.

Two Things We Saw

  1. Tons of B+ grades. This was just kind of a B+ game to me. Yeah, Milwaukee beat the Bobcats convincingly, but the real tests for them at this point are the Celtics and Pacers games. Those are the ones that will decide whether they will make the playoffs at all.
  2. Rough night for the Jennings/Ellis back court though. 25 points on 26 shots. Monta could be really good, really good, off the ball. He should be out there running like he’s Rip Hamilton or Reggie Miller. Screens should dominate his life, because he’s a good catch and shoot guy and can make that tough mid-range shot with more regularity than he can hit a falling down 8-foot shot.

Defensively I thought Ellis was great tonight, but he took so many high percentage shots that just didn’t fall (sure a couple bad ones too though). He must be in a slump. Another sub-par night in my opinion for Delfino.
Good win, but I think we could have beat them by even more. I’d have Skiles make them all shoot some free throws tomorrow morning.
Is Leuer in street clothes because he can only dress 13? Just curious…

@MatthewSchwendinger Yes, that is why Leuer is not in uni.  Skiles said how he hated to have to do that, but those are the rules.  On a positive note…that means for the first time in a long time we don’t have someone out with an injury.

  2. It was nice seeing the Bucks move on from last night and not come out and lose this game against a team they were superior to

  3. big games comin up for the Bucks these next few days, they’ve got alot of traveling to do back and forth and im afraid that could affect them a bit, a win 2nite would be huge I don’t think they’ll win at MSG tho to be honest (hope im wrong)
