@jeremyschmidt I said this team is playing the most attractive basketball, not that they were necessarily the best.

You seem to be implying that Senator Kohl is the problem. He has made three big mistakes over the last two decades that have cost the team (Dunleavy for 8 years, giving Harris too much leeway and the George Karl/Ray Allen situation in '03). What has mattered just as much is winning Big Dog and Bogut rather than, say, Webber and Howard (both one year prior).

The subtext of what you wrote seems to be that you think the team needs to be blown up. That is your right to think that, but if you do at least make a fair argument that applies to THIS TEAM.

@DarvinHam

A perennial All-Star for a half season rental of a past-his-prime PG... don't remind me...

Others can say what they want of Hammonds, but at least you can get a clear idea of what he's thinking with all of his moves, ignoring Joe Alexander (a poster on another Bucks blog said something about Sen. Kohl probably got in Hammond's ear to draft the athletic white guy to raise fan interest).

Looking at this list reminds me how terrible the Larry Harris regime was--huge contracts to average players! (Mo, Bell, Gadzuric, Bobby Simmons, even Redd). Hammond had to spend 3 years cleaning that trash up. I like Hammond's moves--he recognizes when it's prudent to move on, he isn't afraid to roll the dice to see if he can catch lightning in a bottle, and he's done a great job of getting rid of terrible contracts. The Payton for Allen move still is painful to look at, even now (Ray has played for another 10 years after that move, thank goodness he won a championship).

@benjamiller I'm just a dude.

Maybe this team is the best team we've seen in decades. I'll go with the 1999-2001 squads myself instead of this one that is 7-17 against teams that have records above .500. I'll also point out that this current regime was responsible for Salmons/Maggette/Jackson.

I don't get this blog.

If you're a fan, then you're crapping all over a trade that keeps together the currently available unit (which is playing the most attractive basketball *real* Bucks fans have seen in years, maybe decades) and adding an elite scorer and a decent young big.

If you're a journalist, then you're crapping all over this trade because -- what? -- the franchise has made a bunch of moves under previous regimes that failed to work out?

Either way, you're giving bloggers a bad name.
