Jennings.

I, personally, learned something about him during the Fear the Deer year. He is a natural leader. When Bogut went down he did his damndest to keep the team afloat and was THE reason we went seven games with Atlanta. You got to see his swagger in full force. This year is the first year that the Bucks are HIS team. Perhaps it’s because I’m a homer, but I think he has the leadership ability to take this team places…leadership I haven’t seen since Sam Cassel. It remains to be seen if I’m right or wrong.

Brandon keeps fighting…I’ll give him that! He’s played through team member changes and injuries that would have discouraged many a point guard. Last year was terrible for all young players on Bucks. Lock out, short season, Bogut out, Delfino & Prince injured most of season, SJAX saga, trade for Ellis.

I think the guy deserves to have a season to just play ball. Some exciting young prospects on team now. I think this could be a good year for BJ. I would have been okay with them giving him a contract, but if he gets a bigger pay day next year, more power to him!

Interesting take on Brandon. I must admit that I have been skeptical of and quick to disagree with some of your articles in the past but this one is pretty spot-on in my opinion. This really is the year that we find out if he can lead the team into the future or if he is just another player like Redd or Bogut. Should be interesting. Great article.

Also, something tells me that this is our last year of mediocrity, or going into the season feeling mediocre. I think we’ll either start moving upward after this season, or we’ll start the rebuilding process from the very beginning. I’m feeling like something has to give and like we’ll have a more clearly defined direction after this season is over.

Interesting seeing Ty Lawson get the 4 year 48 million extension…I’d say that’s about what Jennings is worth. Personally I’d like to see Jennings locked up under contract just in case someone makes a ridiculously high bid on him in the upcoming Free Agency, but the urgency that Jennings will play with this season to try and make those max dollars could prove to be very useful

Jennings should get better. But I don’t think we’ll see a breakout season. The time for that was last season, and it didn’t happen. He probably is what he is at this point.

Good post. Hard to see clearly where he is going to fall. Inconsistency has been consistent with Jennings. My gut says it’s not going to be a great year, not necessarily his fault entirely, but he will still get an offer from a team that jacks up his price and the Buck’s match, and we go through the same ups and downs for years to come. I hope not, I really really want this kid to continue to get better, even if he’s not a “perennial” all-star, just to be mentioned in toward the top and straighten out his inconsistencies would be good enough for me. Build the team, not necessarily around him, but with him in mind anyways.
