Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks put on an entertaining display of basketball for his family

All season long, Giannis Antetokounmpo has given Bucks fans plenty of ‘wow’ moments. But last night, the same Bucks fans got the chance to mix in some fun moments, too, thanks to a long-needed win and the arrival of Giannis’ family to the United States and to the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  The Antetokounmpos — father Charles, mother Veronica, and younger brothers Kostas and Alex — got to witness Giannis playing live in the NBA for the very first time.

And everyone enjoyed it.  Even the Knicks fans (from the comments section of Knickerblogger):

I’ve been all in with the Greek Freak from the beginning, but my love has gone to the next level after seeing his family at the game today. They are the greatest NBA family of all time. I want the Knicks to sign his young brothers as free agents right now.

That may not be such a crazy move.  Last night on the Bucks’ broadcast, play-by-play man Jim Paschke said that Giannis was stunned that 16-year-old Kostas had grown from 6’4″ to 6’7″ in the few months since he had last seen him.

Here, in Vines, are the highlights of the fun win enjoyed by the Antetokounmpos.

Before the game, the foursome reacts with mixed versions of anxiety. Bucks owner Herb Kohl is sitting in the seat directly behind Mrs. Antetokounmpo.

In the second half, Giannis rebounds a Brandon Knight miss with a resounding dunk and acknowledges his family with a inconceivably long outreached arm.

That putback has Mr. Antetokounmpo dancing with Bango, high-fiving a stranger, and quickly popping back in for a photo with Senator Kohl.

This reverse layup — snuck in around Tyson Chandler — had Mr. Antetokounmpo up out of his seat.

Then Knight hit the three-pointer that eventually won the game and everyone went crazy.

Unless you were one of the 15 men in blue, this particular evening was a fun exhibition of basketball. There’s no other word for it. Just simply fun.

btw, did you notice the size of Giannis’ dad’s hands? See where his hands come from!
We should give this family the keys to the city!

  2. Yippee…. an awesome night for BUCKS fans! For the loyal fans, this one probably justifies the dedication.

Oh please don’t screw this team’s future up, we actually have something here. Knight,Giannis,Henson…need calculated moves going forward. Realistic success is only a few seasons down the road.

  3. Great night, made me really happy for Giannis and just hoping this guy sticks around us for a long time.

  4. God bless Giannis on and off the court, as well as his family. They are certainly a blessing to the Bucks and Milwaukee. I can’t help but feel better after perusing this article and comments. Overall, the Knicks game of February 3, 2014, was certainly a highlight, and it’s nice to enjoy the moment with the staff and fans at Bucksketball.
