We at Bucksketball haven’t always treated Ersan Ilyasova with kindness. At some point or another, we’ve criticized virtually every part of his game, and each year around this time we’re quick to toss him to the trade machine wolves, desperately seeking a taker for the more than $16 million remaining on his deal. In a way, he’s the Bucks’ Jerry (er, Garry) Gergich; clumsy and blunderous, yes, but ultimately a selfless, well-intentioned family man.
What I’m trying to say is, at the end of the day, we love Ersan and the unique skill set he brings to the table. Like any player, he has his weaknesses, but he also has his strengths. Paramount among them is his uncanny ability to transform into a human tackling dummy at a moment’s notice. When he isn’t pwning noobs in SSX Tricky, there’s a good chance Ilyasova is sprawled on the floor, having just been bowled over by any one of the countless opponents foolish enough to believe they have a clear path to the rim.
Ilyasova isn’t just an elite charge-taker, he’s a transcendent charge-taker. And, frankly, he hasn’t received the recognition he deserves. Fed up, and with way too much time on my hands, I decided to do the only thing one can do in this situation: compile a montage of Ersan taking charges set to “Bodies” by Drowning Pool.
